P. T. Barnum

For this week's paint study I did a portrait of the fantastic P.T. Barnum. I did a presentation about this guy in my Advertising workshop class and this was quite an interesting guy. The Prince of Humbug (otherwise known as hype) through sheer force of advertising, audacious claims, and bringing story value to his exhibits Barnum cashed in large as a self made millionaire in the later 1800s. Barnum made circus day near as important as a holiday with his promises of fantastic oddities.
Anyway, this was done in digital for lack of time. I referenced a black and white photo and added the color.
